Free PictureMover Uploading Software

Snapfish PictureMover is a free application we've created to help you get photos directly from your camera to Snapfish (and your computer), without the pain of uploading. Once you've installed the PictureMover, every time you plug in your camera or insert a CD or memory card to your computer, the PictureMover will automatically detect it and start helping you move your photos.

To download PictureMover, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the PictureMover page.
  2. Click on the 'get PictureMover' button.
  3. When the dialog box appears, click 'Save File.' We recommend that you save it to your desktop so it will be easy to find.
  4. Select the area on your computer where you would like to store the setup file for PictureMover.
  5. After the download has completed, locate the Snapfish PictureMover Wizard setup file that you downloaded to your PC. The file is called snapfish-agent.exe. (If you are unable to locate the downloaded file, search for a file with Snapfish in the name.)
  6. Double-click on the file's icon and follow the on-screen instructions during the installation process.
NOTE: PictureMover requires Windows XP. Mac users, please continue to use our standard upload tool.

Once you've installed PictureMover, you can use it right away without having to restart your computer.

Frequently Asked Questions: Photo upload

What is the best resolution for my photos?
See our photo resolution page.

How long does it take to upload photos to Snapfish?
The speed of your upload depends on the speed of your Internet connection. If you have a 56k modem, it will take approximately 2 minutes to upload a 500k digital photo file. The faster your Internet connection, the less time it will take to upload your photos.

Is there any charge for uploading?
No. Uploading and sharing your digital photos is free!

What type of photo file can I upload to my Snapfish account?
When you upload multiple photos on a PC, you can copy the following types of digital photos from your computer to your online Snapfish account:
  • JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe)
  • BMP (.bmp)
  • Zip file (containing JPEGS only)
When you upload photos on a Mac, you can copy the following types of digital photos from your computer to your online Snapfish account:
  • JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe)

  • JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe)
  • Zip file (containing JPEGS only)
Any digital photo you upload must have an ending that matches one of the above file types (e.g., SummerPicnic.jpg). Whichever type of file you use, the copy that you upload will be converted to JPEG format before it is added to your account.

NOTE: Whenever you upload a digital photo to your online account, only a copy of it is placed in your account. The original digital photo file remains unchanged on your computer.

Why can't I see the file extensions on my photo files?
If the names of your files do not end with a dot and a three- or four-letter extension (.jpg, .zip, etc.), your computer may be set to hide file extensions at the end of file names. This setting is easy to change:

On a PC with Windows NT:
  1. From your computer's desktop, click 'Start' and select 'Control Panel' from the menu on the right.
  2. Double click 'Folder Options'.
  3. Click on the 'View' tab at the top of the window.
  4. Uncheck the box labeled 'Hide extensions for known file types' and click on the 'OK' button to confirm your change.
  5. You should now see the file extensions at the end of all file names.
NOTE: These steps may vary slightly if you have an older Windows operating system.

On a Mac:
  1. Click on the 'Finder' drop-down menu at the top of your browser window.
  2. Select 'Preferences'.
  3. In the next window, select the 'Advanced' icon.
  4. Check the box next to 'Show all file extensions'.
NOTE: These steps may vary slightly if you have an older Mac operating system.

For how long are my photos stored on Snapfish?
Your photos will remain in your Snapfish online account indefinitely, as long as you remain an active member of the service. Active participation in the service is defined as purchasing photo merchandise (prints, enlargements, or any photo gift) through the website at least once every 365 days. If your account is inactive for a period of 335 days or more, we will email you about the pending deletion of your online photos. At that time, you will have the option to re-activate your account, thereby preserving your online photos.
